since october, i have been busy putting together an exhibition called Before After, together with many other architect volunteers. simply put, it is an exhibition of questions. questions to the public and to all built environment related disciplines. the aim is to make us all think or rethink 1 how can we make the region better? 2 how can we can turn a disaster into an opportunity? Before After is structured around five themes:
environmental planning - the biggest picture such as where should a city settle in the first place
urban design - the space between buildings and the life that takes place
heritage and character - the tough questions including who should pay for preserving heritage buildings
residential settlements - questioning housing choices
transport and infrastructure - the balance between pedestrians, bikes, cars and public transport
The exhibition is on display in the foyer of the Christchurch Art Gallery and is accompanied by a discussion series. find out more in here http://www.beforeafter.co.nz
